Does this training meet the requirements for obtaining a concealed weapons permit in Colorado?

Yes. The Basic Handgun course meets the training requirements for obtaining a concealed weapons permit in Colorado. In addition, the Basic Handgun course can be used to apply for a security guard license.

Do I have to have my own handgun in order to participate in the classes?

No. We have several rental guns available for $25.00, which includes the holster, spare magazines/speedloaders. Our inventory includes Beretta, Colt, Glock, Smith/Wesson, Sig-Sauer, Ruger, and H&K models in 9mm, .40, and .45 acp.

Do I supply my own ammunition?

Yes. The practice ammunition should be of good quality (factory-brands), and fully metal jacketed. If you use one of our rental guns, there are specific requirements on ammunition types. Call for more information.

Is there a test that I have to pass for any of the classes?

Yes. For most classes there is a written and a practical test. 80% accuracy is required for both. In addition, there are some other standards that have to be achieved. This requirement protects the integrity of our programs.

Where is the training held?

We use various meeting rooms in Loveland, Fort Collins, and Fort Lupton. The range location is the Pawnee Sportsman's Center (Northeast of Greeley). We also use the indoor range at the Rocky Mountain Shooter's Supply in Fort Collins.

Is there a requirement to attend advanced training?

Yes. As a minimum prerequisite, you must attend our basic handgun course or have completed a police academy. Completion of nationally recognized shooting schools, such as Thunder Ranch, Gunsite, etc. is also acceptable for this requirement.

Are private lessons available?

Yes. The cost is $185.00 per person for the Basic Handgun course. The class can be set up to meet your schedule, for 1-2 people, and usually lasts 3-4 hours.

Are custom courses available?

Yes. All training courses can be custom-tailored for agencies and groups. The cost is based on the number of people attending and the length of the course. Fees vary between $300 and $600 per day.
